Our Story

Give. Glean. Grow. Fibroid Awareness and Education Platform was born from a deeply personal journey. In 2004, founder Aprile Futrell discovered she had uterine fibroids—yet received no meaningful education, guidance, or treatment options from her former medical provider. Like many women, she was left to navigate a complex and often painful condition without the information she needed to make informed decisions about her health.

More than a decade later, Aprile experienced a serious health scare that required hospitalization. That moment became a turning point. She began researching fibroids, learning about their prevalence, and uncovering how many women face similar experiences of silence, dismissal, or misinformation. As she gained knowledge, she felt called to ensure no woman would have to walk this path alone or uninformed. From that calling, Give. Glean. Grow. was created.

Established as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2020, Give. Glean. Grow. exists to educate, empower, and uplift women by providing accessible, medically informed resources about uterine fibroids and gynecological health. The platform encourages women to share their stories, learn from one another, and build community around experiences that are too often overlooked or minimized.

Our mission is rooted in three core values:

  • Give represents the act of freely offering something meaningful to others. On this platform, we encourage individuals to openly share their fibroid journeys—the good, the difficult, and everything in between. GIVE also reflects our commitment to offering support, compassion, and knowledge to women seeking clarity and confidence in understanding their bodies.

  • Glean: Sometimes we simply need to know we’re not walking this journey alone. On this platform, individuals can GLEAN—gathering strength, insight, and encouragement from others who openly share their stories (GIVE). GLEAN also reflects our commitment to providing medically informed insights, practical tools, and reliable resources that help women make confident, informed decisions about their gynecological health.

  • Grow reflects the empowerment, connection, and wellness that flourish as women navigate their reproductive health journeys. As we Give and Glean, we create meaningful opportunities to Grow—both individually and collectively—building strength, understanding, and community along the way.

We provide educational materials shaped by medical experts, host conversations that center women’s lived experiences, and create safe spaces where women and young girls can learn about their gynecological health with dignity and confidence. While our resources are designed to inform and support, we strongly encourage every individual to consult their personal healthcare provider to receive guidance and care tailored to their unique needs.

Give. Glean. Grow. stands as a reminder that women deserve to be heard, informed, and supported. Through education, community, and advocacy, we are committed to helping women understand their bodies, reclaim their wellness, and rise through every chapter of their health journey.
